Home / Bangor Northern Ireland. Popular seaside and commuter town

Bangor Northern Ireland (derived from the Irish word Beannchor) is a large seaside town in County Down, , with a population of approximately 80000 people, making it the most populated town in Northern Ireland.
It is a popular day trip resort situated on the southern side of Belfast Lough and is part of the Belfast Metropolitan Area. With boats, sailing and childrens activities all close by in the town centre many a family has spent a lovely day in Bangor.Bangor YACHT Marina is one of the largest in Ireland, and holds EC Blue Flag status

In both 2007, and 2008, the town was voted by local television viewers as the most desirable place to live in Northern Ireland. Maybe because of the fact that it has the sunniest climate in the whole of Northern Ireland.

It is primarily residential and can be viewed as a busy commuter town for the Belfast area, from which it is joined by the A2 dual carriageway road and a direct train line. Bangor is situated 14miles (22 km) east from the centre of Belfast Thirty minutes by train but longer by car especially during peak commuting times.

Personally I prefer Moira, quieter and less commuting time, but everyone has their own favourites.
