The Odyssey Belfast is a large entertainment venue and sports arena situated in the Titanic Quarter.
It was funded by the UK Millennium Commission and other private investors.
The centre was finished in 2001.
As well as hosting many high profile sporting events such as WWF wrestling and boxing championships, the Odyssey has also hosted concerts by most of the worlds’ best major musical artists including names like Rod Stewart Def Leppard , Kylie Minogue, , George Michael, Shania Twain, Rihanna, Kanye West Dolly Parton, Avril Lavigne, Gwen Stefani, Britney Spears, , Beyonce etc.
The Odyssey building was on the short-list of ‘International Large Venue of the Year’ (Outside of USA ) in the 2005 Pollstar Concert Industry Awards which made it one of the world’s top six musical/concert venues.
There are four principal zones
• The 14000 seater Arena –2nd biggest indoor stadium in Ireland used to host concerts and sporting events (and home of the Belfast Giants ice hockey team)
• W5 –science exhibition demonstrating the powers of science.Great fun for kids of all sizes and ages!
• The Pavilion – contains bars, a wide range of restaurants, nightclubs, a 12 screen multiplex cinema and even a chance to get yourself on radio with weekend evenings live broadcast area.
• The Sheridan IMAX – first 3D IMAX cinema in Northern Ireland
