Scott Bikes originated in the late 1950s from a Idaho skier and engineer Ed Scott who invented an aluminuim ski pole.
Later in the 1970s, his business which grew up around this innovative ski accessory branched out into other markets, namely motorcross googles and equipment.
In the mid 1980s the company enetered the bicycle business with production of a mountain bike in 1986, and three years later the production of the first aero bicycle handlebars, which helped Greg Le Mond in his famous Tour de France victory (by just 8seconds) over Laurent Fignon.
From then on the company has played a major role in bicycle frame technology producing a seemingly endless steam of lighter and more refined road and mountain bikes.
For Scott the future of its bicycle manufacturing business looks bright indeed!
